PKD Q & A panel:

  • Terry Watnick, M.D. is the Chair of the PKD Foundation Science Advisory Committee and an associate professor in the Division of Nephrology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where she leads the Baltimore PKD Research and Clinical Core Center.
  • Benjamin Freedman, Ph.D. is a PKD Foundation-funded researcher, working on the project titled Modeling human PKD cystogenesis with pluripotent stem cells. He is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle.
  • David Baron, Ph.D. is the Chief Scientific Officer of the PKD Foundation. Dr. Baron's background is in biomedical sciences and drug development. The PKD Foundation's work is very personal for him as he has ADPKD and was lucky enough to receive a transplant from a living donor in 2009. 
  • Meyeon Park, M.D., MAS spearheads the effort to focus on PKD at the UCSF center.She decided to specialize in treating PKD patients because she had a research interest in cardiovascular disease associated with kidney disease, a condition that affects many PKD patients.
